Shri, Rajkumar, briefed the participants about the TSC and requested them to take benefit under the schemes. Dr. J.V. Rao, CEO, TSC apprised the audience about the schemes and the various tangible benefit to the beneficiaries.
For resolving the problems being faced by Handloom Weavers and for their socio-economic development, TSC has been actively working to recognize and certify the skills of weavers across the country. Tamil Nadu alone constitutes 20% of 82,000 recognized and certified under the “Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)” scheme. Under the program handloom weavers were educated on Digital Learning, Mobile Banking, Importance of e- commerce and awareness on Health and Hygiene in working area. Handloom weavers are directly benefitted under the RPL program by means of, a) recognition & status in the society through GOI recognized certificates, b) Personal Accident Insurance (including Death and Permanent Disability) cover of Rs 2 lac for 3 years from date of certificate by New India Assurance Co. Ltd., c) Eligible to get loan under various scheme such as Mudra, d) ₹500/- one-time compensation for their wage loss, e) Free access to DigiBunai CAD software, and f) Career path – provision to get 10th grade certificate (Handloom) from NIOS for school dropouts.
To help the textile mill sector, especially of Tamil Nadu, in meeting the manpower requirement, TSC has been instrumental in getting the training targets released to Textile mill under the short duration programs of up to 2 months. Direct manpower engaged so far across India to train under the Short-Term Training (STT) are 42760 and out of these 65% were for Tamil Nadu mills.
TSC is also helping Textile mills of Tamil Nadu for meeting their huge requirement of skilled work force through the job melas. So far TSC have channelized about 30 textile industries in more than 20 Rozgar (Job) melas. As result of the initiatives more than 5000 candidates were selected by the industries through the job mela. TSC has directly engaged with states such as Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Assam to conduct Textile exclusive job melas and has received huge response from the Textile mills of Tamil Nadu.
